About the Book: The life of Deucalion Quinctus, Commander of the Garrison under Pontius Pilate, is changed forever by the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, by his sudden love for the beautiful outcast, Esther, and by a bundle of parchments given to him by a mysterious stranger.

Events surrounding the Christos trigger an avalanche which threatens empires–the relentless guilt of Pilate, the frightening ambition of Herod, the uncertain future of Caiaphas, the violent madness of Saul of Tarsus, and the guiding hand of the Watcher, Uriel. Yet, over it all the tenacious love of God weaves a remarkable tale of spiritual power and inspiration.

This compelling historical novel brilliantly pictures dramatic spiritual conflicts in firstcentury Israel; webs of religious and political intrigue that have world powers wavering on cliff’s edge.

My Review: This is the first book in the Giants of the Earth triology which is part of the exciting spiritual thrillers spanning two thousand years. The author of the fabulous book The Oldest Enemy did not let me down in this suspenseful, intriguing and engaging story. From the very beginning you are drawn in and immersed into the time, culture and events that surrounded the people that were involved in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection. The events of surrounding Christ set into motion an unstoppable force that threatens to collapse multiple empires, leaving a wake of violence in its path. This is a one stop shop for books. There is betrayal, politics, spiritual & personal conflicts about the messiah, and even a great love story between Deucalion, Commander of the Garrison under Pontius Pilate, and Esther, a Jew following after Jesus, mixed into all the drama!

I would highly recommend this book to those who want to learn more about the culture during the times of Jesus and have a love for bible history and mysteries filled with suspense.
